What is a quality start prizepick? ›

Definition. A starting pitcher records a quality start when he pitches at least six innings and allows three earned runs or fewer.

In order for a pitcher to be credited with a "Quality Start" (QS): He must be the starter. He must allow three or less earned runs. He needs to pitch a minimum of 6 innings.

W – Win | a pitcher receives a win when he is the pitcher of record when his team takes the lead for good — with a couple rare exceptions. First, a starting pitcher must pitch at least five innings (in a traditional game of nine innings or longer) to qualify for the win.
